Introduction

The JS7 - File Watching is used to automatically start a workflow when file arrives in a directory. JS7 Agents on any platform continuously watch for incoming files and add an order for each file.

Workflow

The workflow jdFileWatchingForkTouch includes a shell job that creates files for automated execution of the jdFileWatchingFork workflow.

  • Workflow jdFileWatchingForkTouch creates the files,
  • File Watching automatically picks up the files and
  • starts the jdFileWatchingFork workflow by adding one order per file created.

To execute the workflow from the folder 08_FileWatching follow the below steps:

  1. Click the folder 08_FileWatching and expand the jdFileWatchingForkTouch workflow. By adding an order to the jdFileWatchingForkTouch workflow - as explained with the JS7 - Online Demo - Workflow - jdFileWatchingForkTouch article - a number of files are created and respective file orders are automatically added to the jdFileWatchingFork workflow. You can check the triggering of files from the below screenshot.

  2. To check the status of the order click the name of the workflow to make the Order History panel appear.

  3. From the Order History panel, you can verify the 5 orders are added to the workflow. Each order represents the respective file. You can verify if the orders are successful and finished. Click the Order ID to see the log output created by jobs executed for the respective order.

  4. A log window will open and the order log will be displayed. The order log contains the output of all jobs executed by the order.
  5. You can download the log file by clicking the Download button from the upper right corner of the log view window. Also, you can expand and collapse the individual job output using the chevron icons from the left upper corner of the log view window.
